IAF’s biggest firepower drill to be held on March 7

The Indian Air Force will conduct its biggest firepower demonstration, Vayu Shakti-2022, on March 7 at Pokhran Firing Range. They will also hold full dress reharsals on March 4. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajasthan governor, Kalraj Mishra, Union defence minister Rajnath Singh, and more than 50 dignitaries from friendly countries will attend the event, strict security arrangements are being made. In the next 3-4 days the SPG squad will visit Jaisalmer. Jodhpur range IG P Ramji will hold a meeting with police officials and review the security preparations.

District collector Pratibha Singh took a stock of arrangements from the Air Force gate to Jodhpur Chunginaka and also inspected from Chandhan village to the firing range and gave necessary directions. She asked the municipal council commissioner to clean the drains, repair the footpath and the pipeline leakage. She directed the police and transport department officials to get a private bus stand for the function from Barmer up to March 1.

She directed the commissioner to keep the city clean, trim the shrubs on the roadside, paint the dividers, and remove the discarded vehicles parked on the road. The collector directed the NHAI officials to deploy ambulances and cranes at Thaiyatand Chandhan. She directed PWD officials to barricade wherever necessary till Chandhan village. Around 150 aircraft, including frontline fighters, Rafale, Mig-21 Bison, Mig-27, Mig-29, Mirage-2000, Su-30 MKI, Jaguars, Tejas LCA, transport aircraft C130, IL78, Hercules, AN-32, Mi-17 1V, Rudra and Mi-35 gunships are going to participate in the exercise. Other unseen force multipliers, including mid-air refuellers, AWACS, and UAV will be seen.
