Ukraine War has proved that modern warfare relies heavily on Long Range Land
Attack Subsonic and Supersonic Cruise Missiles along with Short to Medium Range
Ballistic Missiles.
It is the Kaliber Long Range Subsonic cum Supersonic Cruise missile that the Russians heavily used in Ukraine to attack several Army base camps, military installations and Armed Forces HeadQuarters from Baltic Sea, through air from Sukhoi fighters and beyond Russian borders from Ground based launchers too.
Watching the heavy use of Range Subsonic cum Supersonic Cruise missiles and Short to Medium Range Ballistic Missiles in Ukraine war, Experts have suggested that India should fast-track development and procurement of both Subsonic and Supersonic Air launched and Ground-Launched Cruise Missiles.
The Sukhoi Su-30MKI is equipped with the BrahMos Air-Launched variant and the Rafale has the Scalp Air-Launched Subsonic Cruise Missile but India needs a larger inventory for a two-front threat.
The project to develop the 500 kilometers range Pralay New Generation Short-Range Tactical Ballistic Missile was sanctioned in March 2015 and it conducted its first test in December 2021 but it still needs to complete the developmental and user trial circle to start induction.
