The Philippine Air Force is looking to procure 12 Light Multi-Role Fighters that are much more capable than their recent acquisition of the South Korean FA-50. IgMp has earlier reported this in the month of May that the Philippine Air Force is interested to procure 12 Tejas Mk1A under their 12 Light Multirole Fighters requirement.

The Philippine Air Force had evaluated the Lockheed F-16 but the Former President had called the F-16 useless a Philippines-based defense analyst has said that it will help if the Indian Government had a list of all-weather friends who have unlimited access to the best Indian Military technology.

The Philippines-based analysts have advocated evaluating India's Tejas Mk1A for the Philippine Air Force requirements since it is nearly half the price that of the Swedish SAAB Gripen and the recent sale of BrahMos missile by India to the Philippines has opened up the future export possibility for Air-Launched BrahMos-NG missile and Astra Mk 1 to be equipped on the Tejas Mk1A.
