Eurofighter Typhoon and Dassault Rafale |
The Request For
Proposal (RFP) for the Indian Air Force's $20 billion dollars MRFA (Multi Role
Fighter Aircraft) project will be issued by the end of 2022 and Dassault Aviation's
offer of Rafale F 4.1 standard fighter jet is seen as the leading contender due
to past order of 36 Rafale aircraft.
Eurofighter consortium will offer its Eurofighter Typhoon Tranche 5 and it plans to counter the Rafale offer in terms of fly away cost which might force Dassault Aviation to reduce the per unit cost of Rafale fighter.
Industry officials have said that the bid of Eurofighter will be 30% less than Dassault Aviation and Eurofighter Consortium is confident that it will clear the technical bid but it expects some challenges from the American Boeing F-15EX.
The winner of the MRFA contract will be decided on the basis of the cost of the aircraft rather than the Political considerations that might influence the decision at some extent only.
