The new Uttam
radar derivative that has been cleared for development for Sukhoi Su-30 fighter
jet will have a higher transmit under receive module and will be backed by a
more powerful power supply and will take advantage of the large nose cone of the
Su-30 aircraft that will give it an impressive track and search range.
The Indian Air Force will depute two Sukhoi Su-30MKI aircraft to carry out development trials from 2024 onwards along with other indigenous Weapons Systems as part of the Super Sukhoi upgrade program.
The Uttam radar will also help further in the integration of futuristic weapons like a Hypersonic cruise missile on the Su-30 and air-to-surface weapons that are under development.
The Su-30 fleet will also get a more powerful HAL-built Digital Flight Control Computer with higher computing power to help in the integration of more indigenous and Western developed weapons.
