IAF to Indigenously modernize Su-30 jets with under the radar Russian Assistance, to procure AL-41 engine for Super Sukhoi upgrade

At a time when the Indian Air Force has finalized the technical parameters for the Super Sukhoi upgrade of the initial batch of 84 Su-30 Fighters with indigenously designed systems and weapons.

Russia has now offered under-the-radar participation in the Super Sukhoi upgrade and has agreed to assist India in the upgrade program unofficially without direct participation in order to protect India from Western sanctions.

Proposed systems upgradation in the Super Sukhoi program

Russia has encouraged the integration of Indian-developed weapon systems, radar, avionics and sensors and India will also procure the more powerful AL-41F1S engines from Russia but the new engine procurement would start after several years and will be phased over a long period so that the new engine deal does not attract the attention of Western countries.
