US firm General Electric offers to co-develop 116 Kn engine for AMCA Mk2

The Vice President of the U.S firm General Electric for Asia Pacific region has said that General Electric has submitted a proposal for the co-development of an engine with India for the AMCA Mk2 stealth fighter that will use the 116-kilonewton engine derivative of the F-414 GE 400 engine as the baseline.

In this offer of cooperation and all technologies that was previously asked by the Indian Government has now been offered that includes core engine technology.

He also said that cutting-edge capability of General Electric's John Welch Technology Center at Bengaluru could be leveraged for the AMCA Mk2 jet engine program.

This is significant as the General Electric and Hindustan Aeronautics are also collaborating for the local manufacturing of 98 kilo Newton F-414-9NS6 engine for Tejas Mk2, AMCA Mk1 and TEDBF fighter jets.
