The DRDO's Electronics and Radar Development Establishment (ERDE) will start work on the development of the Uttam Mark III AESA radar that will be customized for Sukhoi Su-30 fighter jets of the Indian Air Force which will allow the upgraded Su-30 Fleet to remain relevant for the next 30 years.

The nose cone of the Su-30 can support a radar with 2400 transmit-receive modules but it is not clear if the existing AL-31F engines can provide enough power to operate this radar at optimal levels.

The DRDO and the Indian Air Force might opt for Uttam Mark III radar with 1800 transmit receive modules so that the engines are not stressed for additional power but the actual specification will be known when the radar starts its testing phase in 2024.
