CCS approves new missile testing facility in Andhra Pradesh's Nagayalanka

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given the green light for the establishment of a new missile testing facility in Nagayalanka, Andhra Pradesh. This approval aims to enhance India’s defense capabilities by focusing on the testing of advanced missile systems.
According to government sources, the new testing range will be crucial for evaluating various missile systems, including surface-to-air and anti-tank missiles, as well as other projects under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
In addition to the missile testing range, the CCS, during its meeting last week, also approved several significant proposals for the Indian armed forces. Among these is the acquisition of 31 Predator drones from the United States and the construction of two nuclear submarines as part of Project ATV, which focuses on enhancing the strategic submarine fleet for the Indian Navy.
Further, the committee also sanctioned the development of infrastructure, including road construction for military forces and enhanced space-based capabilities. DRDO is currently advancing in the development of several critical weapon systems for the defense forces. These systems include the Very Short Range Air Defence Systems, man-portable anti-tank guided missiles, quick-reaction surface-to-air missiles, vertically launched short-range air defense systems, and other tactical weapons. These efforts reflect the ongoing progress in boosting India's tactical defense capabilities.
