It was reported earlier that the first 20 Tejas Mk 1A aircraft will come equipped with Israeli Elta ELM-2052 AESA radar and the indigenous Uttam Mk 1 AESA radar will be integrated from the 21st Tejas Mk 1A aircraft onwards.

But  latest reports indicate that only the first squadron of 18 Tejas Mk 1A will get the Israeli radar and the remaining 65 Tejas Mk 1A aircraft will get the indigenous Uttam Mk 1 AESA radar.

Hindustan Aeronautics has also offered a Tejas aircraft integrated with indigenous Uttam Mk 1 AESA radar to Malaysia since Malaysia has no official diplomatic relations with Israel.
