Bharat Electronics ltd ties up with IIT-Madras to develop 80 mm rockets for armed helicopters

Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has signed a joint development agreement with the Indian Institute of Technology – Madras(IIT-Madras) for the development of an 80 millimeters unguided rocket that will be equipped on armed helicopters to destroy any ground targets.

The Rudra WSI and Prachand LCH helicopters use 70 millimeters rockets and this indigenous 80 millimeters rocket will replace all imported 70 millimeters rockets on Indian armed helicopters.
