BrahMos Aerospace working on a new BrahMos missile variant having a range above 1,500 km and Mach 5 speed

Officials of BrahMos Aerospace have said that an advanced version of the BrahMos missile with a range of 1,500 kilometers and speed of Mach 5 is under development that will initially be a land-based variant followed by ship and air-launched variant.

There will also be a parallel development of lighter BrahMos-NG variant for fighter jets and submarines, and a Long Range BrahMos to Hypersonic Cruise Missile will also be a reality by 2025 to 2026.

The current version of BrahMos missile travels at a speed of Mach 2.8 at the 290-450kms range, while a 600-800km version with Mach 3.5 speed will also be a reality soon, that will be available for land-based launchers and Naval warships.
