MP police Killed a hardcore Maoist carrying 14 lakh reward

According to a senior police officer, a hard-core Maoist who was carrying a combined reward of Rs 14 lakh from three states was killed on Thursday in the Balaghat area of Madhya Pradesh during an encounter with members of an elite combat unit of the police.

According to him, the rebel, Madkam Hidma, also known as Chaitu, was originally from Mirtur in the Bijapur district of neighbouring Chhattisgarh. He was in his early 30s.

Following a tip, members of the state police’s Hawk Force opened fire on Hidma during a gunfight in the Khamkodadar woodland region, which is located inside the boundaries of the Gadhi police station in the Balaghat district.

The Maoist was involved in several attacks on security forces in areas hit by the insurgency.

According to a statement released by the state police headquarters in Bhopal, Hidma was carrying a combined reward of Rs 14 lakh across the states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh.

The statement stated that he was close to Rajesh, also known as Dama, who operated in the Gondia-Rajnandgaon-Balaghat (GRB) division, which includes parts of Maharashtra, MP, and Chhattisgarh.

Hidma’s brother, Seetu Madkam, is also a Naxalite who serves as a ‘deputy commander’ of a Maoist force.

Three significant operations against Naxalites had been carried out in Madhya Pradesh thus far in 2023, resulting in the elimination of four hardcore rebels, including two women.

The governments of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh have declared a reward of Rs 14 lakh each for information that leads to their capture.
