IAF Drop Tanks Fall in Lucknow, No Injuries or Damage Reported

During a routine training mission, an incident occurred in Lucknow when two drop tanks from an Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft detached due to a technical malfunction. The tanks fell in the Bakshi Ka Talab area, but fortunately, no injuries or property damage were reported.

The incident took place during what was described as a “routine training mission” when a technical malfunction resulted in the unexpected jettisoning of two fuel tanks from a Kiran aircraft.

Upon noticing the drop tanks falling in the Bakshi Ka Talab area, local residents promptly informed the police, who in turn notified the Indian Air Force about the incident. In a coordinated effort, a search party comprising IAF personnel and the Lucknow Police successfully recovered the two drop tanks.

The IAF confirmed that the aircraft safely landed after the detachment of the fuel tanks, and there were no injuries, loss of life, or property damage on the ground.

This incident bears similarities to a previous occurrence in July of the same year when a fuel tank was jettisoned from a fighter aircraft and landed in a field in Sant Kabir Nagar district. Fortunately, no damage or injuries were reported in that incident.
