Astra Microwave Products Ltd. has reached a significant milestone with its largest domestic order to date. The company will supply Medium Power Radar (MPR) subsystems to Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) valued at ₹385.6 crore.

Astra Microwave Products Ltd. (Astra Microwave) has secured its largest domestic order, valued at ₹385.6 crore, to supply Medium Power Radar (MPR) subsystems to Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).

The MPR, codenamed “Arudhra,” is a testament to India’s growing prowess in indigenous defense technology. Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the radar will be manufactured by BEL. Following successful trials conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF), the MPR is set for deployment.

The MPR is a 4th generation multi-function phased array radar that uses electronic steering in both azimuth and elevation planes. This technology allows for superior surveillance, detection, and tracking of aerial targets. Additionally, the system includes target identification through interrogations from a co-located Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) system, enhancing battlefield awareness and reducing friendly fire incidents.

This significant order from BEL is a major milestone for Astra Microwave. The company’s expertise in manufacturing critical radar subsystems plays a crucial role in the development of India’s indigenous defense ecosystem.
