The Army is on a path to transformation and will maximise the induction of indigenous weapon systems to be prepared for all operational challenges, General Upendra Dwivedi said on Monday in his first address after taking over as the 30th Chief of Army Staff. The officer, who earlier served as the Vice Chief of Army Staff and Northern Army Commander, said that his priority will be to ensure that the army is prepared to operate in the full spectrum of conflict and in close synergy with other forces.
“The Army is on the path to transformation and we aspire to be ‘Atmanirbhar’. We will encourage indigenous initiatives and induct maximum war systems and equipment that are manufactured in our country,” the army chief said.
