Dr. G Satheesh Reddy, the former Chairman of India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Scientific Advisor to the Defence Minister, delivered an inspiring speech during the 21st convocation at NITK, Surathkal. He emphasized India’s potential to become a global innovation hub and encouraged the youth to harness their creativity and technical expertise to develop cutting-edge, cost-effective products for the world. Dr. Satheesh Reddy’s address underscored the pivotal role of innovation and technology in positioning India at the forefront of the global stage.

Dr. Satheesh Reddy stressed that innovation and technology are essential for India to secure a prominent position on the world stage. He highlighted India’s impressive strides towards self-reliance in various critical domains, particularly in missile technology. India boasts a diverse range of indigenous missiles, which are a testament to the nation’s technical prowess.

In his address, Dr. Satheesh Reddy proudly noted India’s self-reliance in multiple domains, including missile technology, radars, aircraft, communication systems, submarines, surface-to-surface missiles, anti-tank missiles, and more. This achievement reflects the nation’s commitment to developing and producing advanced defense systems and technologies within its borders.

Dr. Satheesh Reddy commended the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, which has opened doors for the private sector to engage in the manufacturing of equipment across various sectors, including defense. He acknowledged the emergence of numerous young entrepreneurs and startups driven by a globally competitive mindset, contributing to India’s innovation landscape.

Dr. Satheesh Reddy revealed that during the previous fiscal year, the Ministry of Defence facilitated the export of equipment, arms, and ammunition worth Rs 16,000 crore. This achievement signifies the international community’s trust in India’s defense technology and the country’s ability to produce high-quality and reliable defense solutions.
