DRDO to test new 1500km range Long Range Anti Ship Missile (LRAshM) soon
The DRDO’s new Long-Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRAshM) is currently under fabrication and it is scheduled to start the testing phase in early 2024.
It will have an impressive range of 1,500 kilometers and will have a quasi-ballistic trajectory that will enable it to reach high altitudes before homing in on its target at high speeds which will also allow it to evade enemy defenses and strike with remarkable accuracy.
Apart from coastal defense batteries, it will also be installed on frontline warships of the Indian Navy.
It is not known yet whether this is the same missile that was touted as ‘Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile’, short form ‘LR-LACM’ a year ago or not, this can be the same missile as its range is said to be similar to what LR-LACM was touted to have as 1,500km.
