Srinagar: The General Officer Commanding of the Srinagar-based 15 Corps of the Indian Army, Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai. on Tuesday said the security situation in Kashmir Valley is generally good but there is still some distance to cover.

“Situation is good here but yet there is a little distance that we have to move forward,” Lt Gen Ghai said at a dedication function of a stadium in Baramulla of northern Kashmir which has been renamed after former chief of defence staff General Bipin Rawat.

The Corps commander said Kashmir is moving ahead and there are “bright days and a very bright future” ahead for the people of the valley. The army commander said there is ongoing collaboration between the Indian Army, state administration and J&K police to combat narcotics smuggling from across the border. “We are addressing that aspect of terrorism,” he said.
