2 terrorists killed, infiltration bid foiled by Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch

Srinagar: Two terrorists were killed in the wee hours of Monday as the Army foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Operation Bahadur Poonch Sector. Major Infiltration Bid Eliminated in a joint operation by Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police today in the Poonch Sector. Two infiltrators have been eliminated. Search operations are in Progress,” tweeted Army’s White Knight Corps

“In a joint operation by alert troops of the Indian Army and the Jammu Kashmir Police, a major infiltration bid was eliminated on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday in the Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district,” defence spokesperson Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said.

A movement of terrorists was observed near the Poonch river. The terrorists were moving from across the Line of Control towards the Indian side, Bartwal said.

In the early hours of Monday, a contact was established with the terrorists, leading to a heavy exchange of fire. In the ensuing firefight, two terrorists were hit, he said.

“One of the terrorists fell on the spot, while the other fell into the Poonch river,” he said.

The troops launched a massive search operation and recovered the body of one terrorist recovered from the site, he said.

A war-like store, including an AK 74 rifle with magazine and eleven rounds, and other stores for sustenance were recovered from the spot, he said. infiltration bid foiled by Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir infiltration bid foiled by Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir infiltration bid foiled by Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir infiltration bid foiled by Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir IgMp
