The Indian Navy’s INS Satpura and a P8I maritime patrol aircraft arrived in Darwin, Australia, to take part in the multinational Exercise Kakadu – 2022, hosted by the Royal Australian Navy.

Ships and maritime aircraft from 14 navies will participate in the two-week-long exercises, which take place both in port and at sea. The ship’s crew will participate in operational planning interactions and sports activities with participating Navies during the exercise’s harbour phase.

The Indian Navy’s INS Satpura (F48) is a Shivalik-class stealth multi-role frigate. This class improves on the previous Talwar-class frigates by adding stealth and land attack capabilities.

Moreover, Boeing’s P-8I is a long-range, multi-mission maritime patrol aircraft designed for the Indian Navy. It replaced the Indian Navy’s ageing fleet of Tupolev Tu-142 aircraft. The P-8I aircraft is a variant of the US Navy’s P-8A Poseidon multimission maritime aircraft.
