The Indian Defense Secretary Ajay Kumar has said for the recently concluded deal with Airbus and TATA for 56 C-295 tactical aircraft that, more than 125 Indian Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have been roped in to supply 13,200 detailed parts, 4,600 sub assemblies and all seven major component assemblies like outer wings, center wings, box, nose fuselage, center fuselage, appendages, and doors.

Kumar said that 96% is the level of indigenization that will be achieved for the Made in India C-295 aircraft that will also make current Indian MSMEs as suppliers for the global supply chain. Assemblies of aerostructure, including the subassemblies, will also be all done in India.

All 56 aircraft will be installed with the indigenous Electronic Warfare Suite and will give a major boost to the tactical airlift capability of IAF, especially in the Northern and North-Eastern sectors and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
