NSG Issues Tender for Procurement of Concealable 9x19mm Carbines Submachine Guns (SMG)

The National Security Guard (NSG) has recently initiated a tender to acquire concealable 9x19mm carbine submachine guns (SMGs) along with necessary accessories. This move reflects the NSG’s commitment to bolstering its operational capabilities in countering terrorist threats and ensuring national security. The tender encompasses a total requirement of 150 units, accompanied by 450 magazines and 150 laser aiming devices, aimed at equipping NSG personnel with advanced weaponry to effectively respond to emergent situations.

Procuring concealable carbine SMGs underscores the NSG’s dedication to staying ahead of evolving security challenges and being prepared to address a wide array of threats. The capability to deploy compact and concealable firearms is crucial in scenarios demanding swift and discreet action, such as hostage rescues and counter-terrorism missions.

Several renowned options are under consideration for procurement, each offering unique features tailored to meet the NSG’s operational needs:

  1. Adani (IWI) Uzi Pro: Renowned for its reliability and compact design, the Uzi Pro, produced by Adani in collaboration with Israel Weapon Industries (IWI), provides enhanced ergonomics and firepower, making it formidable for close-quarters combat situations.
  2. LML (DRDO) ASMI: Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in partnership with LML Ltd., the ASMI carbine is designed to meet the specific requirements of Indian security forces. Emphasizing indigenous production and technological innovation, the ASMI carbine offers reliability, accuracy, and versatility in challenging operational environments.
  3. HK MP-5K: The compact variant of the legendary MP-5 submachine gun by Heckler & Koch, the MP-5K, is renowned for exceptional performance and precision engineering. Its compact size, combined with reliability and accuracy, makes it an ideal choice for close protection and urban warfare scenarios.
  4. B&T MP-9: Manufactured by B&T AG, the MP-9 is a lightweight and compact submachine gun tailored for special operations and law enforcement. Featuring advanced ergonomics and modular design, the MP-9 offers enhanced maneuverability and firepower in confined spaces.

Established on September 22, 1986, the NSG was modeled after elite counter-terrorism units such as Germany’s GSG-9 and the United Kingdom’s SAS. Operating under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, the NSG plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the nation against terror threats and responding to high-risk situations with speed, precision, and professionalism.
