Operation Trinetra : 5 soldiers killed in IED blast triggered by terrorists during anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri
Jammu: Five soldiers have been killed and another injured in an encounter with terrorists that broke out early on Friday morning in a thickly vegetated area in Kandi forest of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.
Army columns have been conducting intelligence-based operations to flush out a group of terrorists involved in ambush on an Army truck in Tota Gali area of Bhata Dhurian in Jammu region on April 20.
“On specific information about presence of terrorists in the Kandi forest in Rajouri sector, a joint operation was launched on May 3. At about 7.30 am on May 5, a search team established contact with a group of terrorists well entrenched in a cave. The area is thickly vegetated with rocky and steep cliffs,” the Army said in a statement.
The terrorists triggered an explosive device in retaliation.
The Army team suffered two fatal casualties on the spot with injuries to four more soldiers, including an officer. The injured personnel had been evacuated to Command Hospital, Udhampur, where three of them succumbed.
The Army said additional teams from the vicinity have been directed to the site of encounter.
As per reports, a group of terrorists is trapped in the area. There is a likelihood of casualties in the terrorists group.
Meanwhile, Internet has been suspended by administration in parts of Rajouri district. IgMp
