15 Standing Ovations, 79 Applauses: PM Modi Addressed US Congress Amid Loud Cheers, he called it ‘A Great Moment of Honour’
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on early Friday morning addressed the joint sitting of the US Congress amid loud cheers and standing ovations. PM Modi is only the third world leader to address the US Congress twice. The Prime Minister had addressed the joint Congress sitting in 2016 during Barack Obama’s tenure. His address was marked by 15 standing ovations and 79 applauses. Following his address, US Congressmen surrounded PM Modi to take autographs and selfies.
PM Modi began his address with “Namaste” raking up loud cheers as he expressed his gratitude on behalf of 1.4 billion Indians. He said, “It is always a great honour to address the US Congress. It is an exceptional privilege to do so twice. For this honour, I extend my deepest gratitude to the 1.4 billion people of India.”

‘Celebration Of Democratic Bond’
PM Modi showed his appreciation towards US Congress for celebrating the bonds between two great democracies. “I can relate to the battles of patience, persuasion, and policy. I can understand the debate of ideas and ideology. But I am delighted to see you come together to celebrate the bonds between two great democracies – India and the United States,” he said.

PM Modi On Cultural Exchange Between India and United States
PM Modi highlighted the contribution of Indian Americans to the growth of the United States. He also hailed the cultural exchange between India and US. “The foundation of America was inspired by the vision of a nation of equal people…There are millions here who have roots in India, some of them sit proudly in this chamber and there is one behind me,” he said.

PM Modi, in his also highlighted the growing trend of AI (artificial intelligence).
