The Varunastra Advanced Heavyweight Anti-Submarine Torpedo was test-fired in combat mode for the first time to test the maximum endurance of the batteries at maximum speed and it achieved a range of 20 kilometers thus meeting the mission requirements and objectives.

The Varunastra has an operational range of 40 kilometers and as it is electrically propelled increasing its speed in combat mode, decreases its range to 20 kilometers.

The Varunastra has a speed of 74 kilometers per hour and it can operate at a maximum depth of 600 meters.
