Bharat Forge: Strengthening India’s Defence Capabilities with Aggressive Investments

Bharat Forge, a renowned Indian multinational conglomerate with interests spanning various sectors, has been making significant strides in the defence industry. With a diverse portfolio covering forging, automotive, energy, construction, mining, railways, marine, aerospace, and defence, the company is actively contributing to strengthening India’s defence capabilities. A senior company official recently revealed that Bharat Forge is executing orders worth Rs 3,000 crore for multiple product lines from the defence sector, and another substantial contract worth Rs 2,000 crore for artillery guns is on the horizon.

Bharat Forge’s foray into the defence sector has proven to be a strategic and lucrative move. The company is experiencing a growing revenue stream as it fulfills existing orders from the armed forces. These orders span various product lines, contributing significantly to the company’s overall revenue. While there may be intermittent gaps between one order and the next due to the procedural aspects of military contracts, the long-term outlook for the defence vertical remains extremely positive.

One of the most promising developments in Bharat Forge’s defence business is the forthcoming indigenous orders for artillery guns. Expected to materialize in December, these orders will further solidify the company’s position as a key player in India’s defence manufacturing sector. The artillery gun contracts are estimated to be valued at around Rs 2,000 crore, significantly bolstering Bharat Forge’s order book.

Baba Kalyani, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Forge, expressed confidence in the company’s defence business. He anticipates a continuous increase in the revenue run rate as additional orders are secured. The defence vertical is expected to remain a key growth driver for the company in the coming years, with a strong emphasis on indigenous manufacturing and contributing to India’s self-reliance in defence production.
