Coastal Security Drill “Sagar Kavach” Tests Response Capabilities in India

A two-day mock security drill known as “Sagar Kavach” was conducted in a coastal district, testing the response and efficacy of various security agencies. The exercise involved the participation of police officers, the Coastal Security Group (CSG), Q Branch, Central Industrial Security Group, Indian Coast Guard, and the Indian Navy.

During the drill, a scenario unfolded where a total of nine “intruders” embarked on a mechanized boat and set sail toward the VOC Port. The CSG officers, led by Inspector Cyrus, who were patrolling the area near the seaport, successfully detained the intruders. Additionally, three “bombs” were seized during the operation.

The exercise continued as the security officers apprehended two “terrorists” who were reportedly equipped with “explosives” and were moving toward a chemical industry located at SPIC Nagar. The security agencies involved in the drill worked cohesively to respond to the simulated threats, test their coordination and readiness, and ensure the safety and security of the coastal region.

Security drills like “Sagar Kavach” are vital for maintaining and enhancing the preparedness of India’s coastal defense forces. They serve as a critical component in ensuring the protection of India’s coastal areas from potential security threats, including intruders and terrorist activities. The regular conduct of such exercises helps to keep the security apparatus sharp and ready to respond effectively in real-life situations.
