ERADS, Desi S-400 : IAF not to opt for additional S-400, instead will go for DRDO’s Extended Range Air Defence System
The Indian Air Force will be receiving its third S-400 squadron from Russia this month and the remaining two squadrons will be delivered in 2023.
Indian Air Force had planned to procure two more squadrons of S-400 system from Russia but it has now dropped this plan considering the purchase can trigger CAATSA sanctions and the DRDO Extended Range Air Defense System (ERADS) will also be available soon that will have a 150 kilometers range interceptor missile known as ER-SAM and the 350 kilometers range interceptor missile known as XR-SAM.
Together with BMD Phase-1 and Phase-2, DRDO’s ERADS can create a layered air defense even without S-400. With the inclusion of S-400, Akash and SPYDER the Indian Air Defence protection will strengthen further. India’s growing Military power
