Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) approves procurement of 55 Sprint Firefighting Bots for Indian Navy worth Rs 225 crores ($27.4 million)

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) of the Ministry of Defence has given an Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for the purchase of 55 Firefighting robots worth Rs. 225 crores ($27.4 million) for the Indian Navy.

The indigenous firefighting robot is known as Sprint Firefighting Bot that has been developed by private sector firm Swadeshi Empresa which can detect the source of fire and extinguishes it with a water firm jet or spray autonomously.

These Sprint firefighting bots will be deployed on board first indigenously designed and built 2nd active Aircraft Carrier of the Indian Navy, INS Vikrant and probably be on the other active Aircraft Carrier INS Vikramaditya too later. IgMp
