DRDO confirms Archer SR-UAV ready for weapon trials
As per defence sources, the DRDO has completed the flight trials of the Archer Short Range Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (SR-UAV) and it is now gearing up to conduct weapons trials in the coming weeks.
Archer SR-UAV can be armed with free-fall bombs of 5 kilograms as well as air-to-surface missiles.
The Archer will have to demonstrate its ability to carry out precision strikes and engage targets effectively and the success of these trials will lead to its induction into the Armed Forces.
Archer has impressive operational capabilities as it can fly at an altitude of 22,000 feet maintaining an endurance of up to 12 hours, making it worthy for long-range missions. Archer also carries an advanced Electro-Optical and Infrared sensors, to make it effective in identifying and tracking enemy targets even in the harshest conditions.
Equipped with advanced technologies, Archer SR-UAV is well suited to conduct a variety of missions, including intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, tracking, and reconnaissance (ISTAR). DRDO confirms Archer SR-UAV ready for weapon trials IgMp
