DRDO developing a new fully air-cooled AESA radar for UAVs and UCAVs
The DRDO is developing a fully air-cooled AESA fire control radar that will offer advanced long-range threat detection tracking and targeting capabilities, the low-cost radar will be smaller and lighter than the new Uttam AESA radar developed for LCA Tejas Mark 1A aircraft and will also require less power that will be integrated on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAVs), Rotary Wing Aircraft, Light Attack Aircraft, and ground-based towers.
The new air-cooled radar will eliminate the need for liquid cooling thereby simplifying maintenance requirements and reducing logistical challenges.
The DRDO also plans to develop a liquid-cooled radar alongside the air-cooled variant that aims to support applications that demand higher power output. DRDO developing a new fully air-cooled AESA radar for UAVs and UCAVs IgMp
