DRDO Developing High Power Long Range DEW
The DRDO’s Center For High Energy Systems has issued tenders regarding the development of an X-band air defense Fire Control Radar for Directed Energy Weapon applications.
The system will be mounted on a 6×6 vehicle and will include search and tracking radars and 3D electro-optical tracking systems which indicates the possibility of a high-power long-range Directed Energy Weapon (DEW) system is in development by the DRDO as the detection range for the X-band radars is around 25 kilometers for targets with a radar cross-section of 0.1 square meters and 8 kilometers of detection range for 0.01 square meters.
