The DRDO’s Instruments Research and Development Establishment (IRDE) had issued tenders for fabrication and installation of the Infrared Sensor for Airborne applications that will be installed on the Hawker 800 test bed aircraft leased by the DRDO and as per latest reports the Tamil Nadu-based private sector firm Zephyr Aerospace Private Limited has won the contract for the fabrication and installation work.
Instruments Research and Development Establishment (IRDE) has been working on the Electro-Optical Targeting System (EOTS) for fighter jets that combines forward-looking infrared and infrared surge and track functionality for the precision air-to-air and air-to-surface targeting capability and provide high-resolution imagery of the terrain.
The DRDO has also developed a durable sapphire window that will be used into the production variant.
