General Electric has submitted a proposal to co-developer 116 to 120 kilonewton engine with 100% transfer of technology for the AMCA Mk2 program that will be based on the 116 kilonewton enhanced performance variant of baseline F-414 engine.

General Electric officials have said that the enhanced performance variant will be Backward Compatible and can be re-equipped on Tejas Mk2, AMCA Mk1 and TEDBF aircraft that will be powered by the baseline F-414 engine without requiring any modification to the rear lower fuselage or its engine bay section.

General Electric and Hindustan Aeronautics will soon be redrawing a new contract for a new purchase order that will see local manufacturing of the F-414 engine in India for the Tejas Mk2 program.
