The Director General of DRDO’s Aeronautical Systems, Dr. Tessy Thomas has inaugurated the manufacturing of the dry Kaveri engine module at the Godrej and Boyce facility, in presence of Executive Director of Godrej and Boyce, Nyrika Holkar.

The DRDO’s Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) had awarded a contract to Godrej Aerospace in September 2022 to manufacture eight modules of the 48 kilonewton dry Kaveri engine variant. This particular variant of Kaveri engine was undergone rigorous testing in Russia whose results are currently being analyzed by DRDO and they have planned more trials in future despite the engine’s initial trial success in Russia.

Godrej will deliver the engines to DRDO by early 2024 and will be used on the Indian Unmanned Strike Aircraft (IUSA) that is under development for the Indian Air Force. IgMp
