HAL Light Utility Helicopter

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has started an evaluation process for a possible attack version of the Light Utility Helicopter (LUH).

The proposed or planned LUH weaponized version will carry out an essential modification to the original airframe so that it can be equipped with a forward-looking Infrared Camera, Turret Gun, Rockets, Air-to-Air Missiles, and Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGMs).

The Attack variant will also have additional sensors to support aerial reconnaissance, troop transport, and close air support.

HAL will soon start production of LUH in its Tumkur plant in Karnataka.
