IAF Plans to collaborate with ISRO on the development of a Military-Grade Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV)

As part of its ambitious Space Vision 2047, the Indian Air Force, shortly to be known as the Indian Air and Space Force (IASF), intends to work with ISRO on the development of a Military-Grade Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV). This unmanned spacecraft will offer an essential platform for testing innovative sensors and other cutting-edge satellite technology in the challenging environment of space.

The RLV’s reduced size and absence of a human crew are said to give major benefits. Compared to manned spacecraft, it requires less thrust and a smaller rocket for launch, enabling longer missions in low Earth orbit. Because of this, it is perfect for assessing and testing crucial space technologies that are essential to the IASF’s ability to operate in the future.

The RLV-LEX mission, which was completed successfully earlier this year, showcased India’s increasing proficiency in reusable space technology. The IAF and ISRO’s most recent partnership expands on their previous accomplishment and is a big step in the direction of making India a major space power.

The RLV can do more than just evaluate new technologies. Additionally, it is anticipated to be essential to the execution of top-secret missions for the Indian military’s space programme. This demonstrates how crucial the space sector is becoming for modern warfare and how committed India is to protecting its interests in this crucial domain.

In India’s space ambitions, the development of the Military-Grade RLV is a major turning point. Together, the IAF and ISRO are establishing the groundwork for India to eventually have a strong and adaptable space force that can protect its interests and take the lead in the international space community.
