The Director of Finance at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders has said that the shipyard is actively collaborating with the French firm Naval Group to finalize the selection of new equipment for the 3 additional Kalvari class submarines that will incorporate substantial enhancements in equipment and technology as compared to the first six Scorpene submarines.

The process of equipment finalization is anticipated to take around six months after which price negotiations will begin.

These additional 3 scorpene submarines will come equipped with DRDO-made Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) system which will be completely ready for installation on submarines in 2025-26 after proper testing and certification.
