'India may make border moves next year, China should be prepared for that': Chinese Professor Jin Canrong

Recent clash in Tawang at LAC between Indiaand Chinashowed the weaknesses of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army and its soldiers in Mountain warfare against a seasoned professional Army like the Indian Army.

Debates have started thereafter in several Chinese social media groups, pages, and TV debates, whether the Chinese military is prepared well enough against India in the Himalayan regions for even a small-scale war or not. The propaganda videos of military exercises shared by the Chinese Army’s official social media handles are just for propaganda and to inject fear among China’s enemy neighbours, the people of China know this very well.

Recently a video debate of Professor Jin Canrong, an Ultra Nationalist Chinese scholar, went viral on the Chinese video platform, where he was seen expressing his worry about possible Indian moves in the future.

“I believe there is a high likelihood that Indiawill make border moves next year. We must invest heavily in border capacity building. The equipment should be replaced, and the conditions should be improved, so that Indiacannot take advantage of it,” Prof Jin Canrong said in that viral Chinese video.

“Next year, because important international meetings such as the G20 will be held in India, we do not want China-India relations to deteriorate significantly. But I believe that next year will also happen; this is undoubtedly the Indian side of the provocation”, Canrong added.
