Indian Air Force 80 MTA requirement: Lockheed-TATA to join hands to make C-130J Super Hercules in India

TATA Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) and Lockheed Martin had started discussions to locally manufacture C-130J Super Hercules aircraft that will be offered to the Indian Air Force to meet its requirement of 80 Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA).

It is to be noted that the joint venture firm TATA Lockheed Martin Aerostructures Limited (TLMAL) is already manufacturing the empennage of the C-130J in Hyderabad with over 95% indigenous content.

It is important to note here that the Brazilian Aerospace giant Embraer has already pitched its C-390 Millennium Medium Transport Aircraft to the Indian Air Force for its 80 MTA requirement which will be manufactured in HAL facility with technology transfer. IgMp
