Indian Army Foils Unauthorized Possession of Army Uniforms in Pokhran

In a recent operation, the Intelligence Unit of the Indian Army successfully thwarted an attempt to possess unauthorized Army uniforms and equipment. Four individuals have been arrested in connection with this incident and are currently under interrogation. To prevent further security breaches, the entry of outsiders has been restricted in the area.

The operation unfolded when security forces intercepted a car near Nachana Phante in Pokhran. Upon inspection, the vehicle was found to contain a cache of 91 new Army uniforms, along with helmets, shoes, belts, gloves, and various other military items. The individuals in the car, all residents of Rajasthan, were en route to Jaisalmer with the seized items, which they had reportedly collected from shops in Suratgarh. Their journey was abruptly halted when they were detained by the Army. The white Alto car used for transportation was also confiscated.

It is essential to note that the sale of Army uniforms is strictly prohibited. Consequently, Army Intelligence units from Suratgarh and Ganganagar, in collaboration with a team from Jaisalmer, have launched a thorough investigation into the matter. The primary objectives of the investigation are to determine the origin of these uniforms, the source from which they were procured, and the location of their manufacture.

The recovered items included 91 sets of new Army pattern uniforms, eight uniforms in the Kargil check pattern, 46 Army t-shirts, four Army shaving kits, 30 pairs of socks, shoes, five combat caps, and 25 belts. Following the initial round of questioning, the Intelligence Unit handed over the four suspects to the Nachana Police, along with the seized vehicle. The local police are now conducting their own inquiries to uncover more details regarding this unauthorized possession.

The recovered Army uniforms and associated items remain under the custody of the Intelligence Unit, pending further investigation. This operation underscores the Indian Army’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of its uniforms and equipment while ensuring the security of its personnel and operations.
