The Indian Army has released a Request For Information (RFI) to procure approximately 5,000 Fire and Forget ATGMs along with 500 launcher systems that will be adapted on BMP-II Infantry Fighting Vehicles.

The ATGMs must have a maximum range of over 5 kilometers and it must weigh less than 25 kilograms with their launchers.

The ATGMs should be of the modern generation and will replace the Konkur-M ATGMs mounted on the Indian Army’s BMP-II Infantry Fighting Vehicles.

Armoured Vehicles Nigam Ltd (AVNL) has also showcased BMP-II IFV models at the last year’s Defence Expo equipped with loitering munition launchers attached to its turret. As modern warfare is constantly evolving and after watching the Ukraine war, the Indian Army has started to modify its armored vehicles and tanks with the latest equipment and technologies.
