Mahindra Defense is still testing its own variant of the 8×8 Wheeled Armored Platform (WhAP) for the Indian Army as Mahindra Defense had emerged as the L2 vendor and was granted permission to manufacture Wheeled Armored Platform for Army trials.
The Indian Army has already inducted the Infantry Protected Mobility Vehicles (IPMV) built by TATA Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL) but no major orders have been placed for the WhAP 8×8 that features Amphibious capabilities.
The Indian Army’s bulk order for 8×8 WhAP may be split between TATA Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) and Mahindra Defense as the vehicle has already undergone stringent field trials in deserts and high-altitude areas.
