On November 27, 2022, Naib Subedar Baldev Singh confronted approximately 50 PLA soldiers attempting to cross the LAC and capture Atari Post. Singh, displaying exceptional valor, single-handedly injured around 15 Chinese soldiers, thwarting the enemy’s plan and showcasing the unwavering resolve of the Indian Army.
Tactical Brilliance: Leadership and Negotiation along the LAC
Lieutenant Colonel Pushmeet Singh, commanding officer of the 19 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, played a pivotal role in thwarting a major PLA infiltration attempt along the LAC. Through astute tactical maneuvers, he successfully engaged in a tense standoff that lasted two days. Lt. Col. Singh’s calm leadership and skillful negotiation de-escalated the situation, averting a potentially larger conflict.

Major Sourav Kumar, commanding officer of the 15th Battalion of the Kumaon Regiment, led covert missions under Operation Dorji deep inside Chinese territory. His team occupied uncharted territory, established a covert surveillance post, and provided critical intelligence on enemy movements. Maj. Kumar’s exceptional leadership during Operation Dorji played a crucial role in safeguarding the nation’s security along the strategically vital Siliguri Corridor.
