MASSIVE: New Details of the bravery of the Indian Army at LAC between 2020-22 period, revealed during Army Day 2024 Gallantry Awards

The Indian Army’s Western Command recently hosted its annual gallantry awards ceremony, unveiling hitherto undisclosed operations along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). These operations, spanning September 2021 to November 2022, showcased the exceptional courage and tactical brilliance of Indian soldiers in the face of Chinese aggression.

Unveiling Heroic Feats: Courage along the Line of Actual Control

The ceremony highlighted various extraordinary acts of courage, with one notable instance occurring on January 7, 2022. During an attack on the Indian Army post at Shankar Tekri by multiple PLA soldiers, Sepoy Raman Singh demonstrated unparalleled bravery in hand-to-hand combat. Despite being outnumbered, Singh grievously injured four Chinese soldiers, seized their rifles, and effectively repelled the attack, earning him a well-deserved gallantry award.

Valor in the Face of Adversity: Thwarting Intrusion at Atari Post

On November 27, 2022, Naib Subedar Baldev Singh confronted approximately 50 PLA soldiers attempting to cross the LAC and capture Atari Post. Singh, displaying exceptional valor, single-handedly injured around 15 Chinese soldiers, thwarting the enemy’s plan and showcasing the unwavering resolve of the Indian Army.

Tactical Brilliance: Leadership and Negotiation along the LAC

Lieutenant Colonel Pushmeet Singh, commanding officer of the 19 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, played a pivotal role in thwarting a major PLA infiltration attempt along the LAC. Through astute tactical maneuvers, he successfully engaged in a tense standoff that lasted two days. Lt. Col. Singh’s calm leadership and skillful negotiation de-escalated the situation, averting a potentially larger conflict.

Demonstrating exceptional stealth and tactical acumen, Lt. Col. Sati completed the mission without detection, significantly contributing to India’s strategic advantage in the region.

Covert Operations: Strengthening Defensive Posture along the Siliguri Corridor, the Vulnerable ‘Chicken’s Neck

Major Sourav Kumar, commanding officer of the 15th Battalion of the Kumaon Regiment, led covert missions under Operation Dorji deep inside Chinese territory. His team occupied uncharted territory, established a covert surveillance post, and provided critical intelligence on enemy movements. Maj. Kumar’s exceptional leadership during Operation Dorji played a crucial role in safeguarding the nation’s security along the strategically vital Siliguri Corridor.

The gallantry awards ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices and unwavering dedication of Indian Army soldiers who tirelessly guard our borders. Their acts of courage and tactical brilliance in the face of adversity not only inspire us but also stand as a testament to the strength and resilience of the Indian nation.
