To manufacture 155mm Dhanush Mounted Gun System, AWEIL issues EoI seeking strategic partners
Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL) has issued an Expression of Interest (EoI) inviting responses from potential long-term strategic partners to design, develop, manufacture, and supply the Dhanush-based 155 millimeters x 52 caliber Mounted Gun System to the Indian Army including potential export opportunities.
The Indian Army has an initial requirement for 800-Mounted Gun Systems for high-altitude regions and is looking at evaluating both the ATAGS-Mounted Gun System and the Dhanush Mounted Gun System, both of which come with the same 155mm X 52 caliber configuration.
While on the other hand, Indian Army sources also confirmed that they are also looking at Bharat Forge Kalyani group-designed and manufactured MArG (Mountain Artillery Gun) truck-mounted Ultra Light Howitzer which comes in 155mm X 39 caliber option, which is a very lightweight and easy to move with a decent speed even in mountain regions as this mounted gun system is specifically designed to cope up with the situation of mountainous border regions.
