The American Govt establishment has offered India to co-develop a Hybrid Air Defence system that can be used as High Altitude Anti-Ballistic Missile (HA-ABM) system and also as a Very Long-Range Air Defense System (VLRADS).

India has already deployed the Phase-1 of the Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) program and the test of Phase-2 interceptors has already taken place and more tests will be carried out this year.

India is also working on the XR-SAM (eXtra Long Range Surface to Air Missile) missile system to complement the Russian S-400 system and experts have said that with the hybrid system offer, the United States aims to stop India to procure more S-400 system or the latest S-500 system from Russia.
