3 Suspected Members of ULFA-I from Guwahati’s Maligaon area

On Tuesday, at least three people were taken into custody from the Maligaon district of Guwahati, allegedly belonging to the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I), a banned organisation. Based on preliminary data, the suspected members had been living in the Pandu area’s BBC Colony. The names of the cadres are Asim Adhikari, Rupjyoti Das, and Moon Debnath.

It should be noted that a few days ago, GP Singh, the Director General of Assam Police (DGP), issued a challenge to the outlawed group, asking them to target him rather than kill common people. ULFA-I accepted the challenge and presented several demands, asking the DGP to go around the city unaccompanied by security guards.

The arrest was a critical step for the police agency in maintaining the state’s peace and order following the recent threat.
