Bharat Electronics Ltd has been selected as the production partner of the Advanced Infrared Search and Tracking System (IRST) that has been developed by the DRDO’s Instruments Research and Development Establishment (IRDE) for the Tejas Mk2.

The Infrared Search and Tracking System (IRST) will have a range of over 150 kilometers and will detect and track objects which give off infrared radiation such as fighter jets and helicopters.

Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) will deliver the first prototype within 10 months of signing the contract and it will be equipped on the Tejas Mk2 before its first flight by the end of 2023.
