Chinese and Pakistani High-Altitude Balloons over Indian Military Bases : IAF Su-30 welcomes F-22 to Balloon Club

The Chinese spy balloon that was shot down by a F-22 fighter jet yesterday was identical to a Chinese surveillance balloon that was spotted over an Indian Navy base in Andaman and Nicobar Islands in January 2022 that had the same antenna-like structure.

There’s no report regarding Indian action against that Chinese spy balloon at that time, but some reports says that the balloon hovered just for a day over the Andaman Islands and then disappeared from that location the next day as Indian Sukhoi fighters based in Andaman Tri-service command, chased it and maneuvered near it to sent a clear message of warning to shoot that object down if that balloon didn’t change its course.

The U.S officials are not buying the Chinese statement that it was a weather balloon and have asserted that it was clearly a spying asset.

An Indian Air Force Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter of the Indian Air Force had shot down a similar Pakistani meteorological balloon in Western sector in 2016 using its 30 millimeters Automatic Cannon when it violated Indian airspace and tried to capture images of strategic military installations and locations, the debris of that balloon was later collected by the Indian Air Force Garud Commandos.
